Sewing the beanie:
Fold the rectangular piece in half (along the row between the two inverted hearts). Sew the first row and the last row together using the mattress stitch. Weave in loose ends.

Making the cord:
Using the same yarn, make a 60" (100 cmI-cord rope and weave in any loose ends.

Closing the top:
Leaving about 0.5" (1.25 cm) from the sewing line, Insert the cord between the first and second brioche ribs at one edge, *leave about 2" (5 cm) from that point, then pull the cord out. reinsert the cord after a distance of 1" (2.5 cm)*. repeat between ** about five times, until you circle back to the sewing line. Pull out the cord about 0.5" (1.25 cm) from the sewing line. Scrunch the top shut by pulling the two ends of the cord tightly, then tie them into a bow.

Lastly, feel free to leave a comment if you have any questions or find something confusing in the pattern.
