Watermelon Delights Shawl

Hello knitters! As the last days of spring are soon to pass and summer is fast approaching, it is high time for me to switch to some cotton and light yarn projects, and what’s better than a lacy and light shawl to wear over your tank top or swimsuit, or when it gets chilly at night. I will be the first to admit that knitting with fine yarn might be irking sometimes; you might get frustrated as the progress in knitting is slow, and you don’t get the same rapid sense of achievement and rejoice as when you work with bulkier yarn. However, the reward of holding the finished piece afterwards is so worth it. Even after many years of knitting, I always feel so proud and accomplished once I see my finished work worn and appreciated.

I had previously worked with Scheepjes yarn more than two years ago, when I made Wrap Me in Sunshine Shawl. Many of you have shown love for that project, to which I am eternally humbled and grateful, however I didn't have plans to buy more (see rant about fine yarn above). But since I received it as a gift (again!), I decided to use it, making a simpler design this time. It is an asymmetrical shawl that starts with flowing lines, appearing once you’ve repeated the general pattern several times, followed by a stripe of eyelets along the wider side, and that is it. It's a beautiful and elegant one-cake shawl, and I hope you find it interesting and make one for yourselves this summer.

Tiny Waves Shawl

Hello knitters! Most general knitting patterns have right side rows where the pattern is worked, and wrong side rows that are simply done by just knitting or purling all the stitches. However, for the pattern that I've challenged myself to do this time, it has its pattern worked on both sides, and I've been trying to adapt it to a one side inclined shawl for more than a year now and I've finally succeeded . For this project, I've chosen another Japanese yarn that has a pseudo mohair texture. What encouraged me to pick it for making this shawl is that this particular pattern contains big eyelets, so the mohair covers them. The beautiful sequence of changing colors gives this shawl a soft and cozy look and feel. So start knitting and get yourself a very unique shawl by just repeating this simple twelve-rows pattern, and you will be done in no time.

Stars on the Beach Shawlette

Hi everyone! I got my hands on a light, soft and multi-colored baby yarn, which inspired me to make this delicate shawlette. The design I've chosen is a four-row pattern accentuated by the color changing yarn. There is a small twist to knitting it, but fear not, because the general pattern is explained clearly in my video tutorial. You can customize the size of this shawlette however you like by adjusting the number of general pattern repeats. To keep the same sequence of colors throughout the whole shawlette, you have to match the color when you join a new yarn donut. I hope you enjoy making this piece and I appreciate any thoughts or comments you leave.

Flowers Bunch Shawl

Hello knitters! When I purchased a Scheepjes yarn cake almost two years ago -which eventually turned into my Wrap Me in Sunshine Shawl- I went through a battle trying to remain patient and see this project through. I am sure anyone in my shoes understands the agony of using fine yarn to make a big project, the long days of working with thin thread while repeating the same pattern again and again and berating yourself the whole time. So, when I had finished that shawl, I promised that I would not put myself through that again. But as you might expect, I happened to stumble upon this lovely YarnArt cake, fell for the temptation, and the same scenario happened again. So, after weeks of work passed, and so many rows unraveled to correct mistakes made late at night, I can proudly present to you my new shawl. The color change looks so beautiful, and the lacy pattern really shows it off. I feel like the final look is really worth all the effort it took to make it, as you can see. Enjoy knitting this shawl and let me know what you think of it.

Marigold Shawl

Hi everyone! It's been a while since my last post, as I've been busy with family matters. But clearly, I still haven’t ran out of this Nako Elit Baby yarn, and this is the third design after the Dusky Sky Hat and Powder Stripes Shawl that I made using it. It's so soft and easy to work with and has a very pretty color scheme that I just love to work with it. Now this shawl, with its classic triangular shape, has a four rows pattern that is repeated three times within the general pattern. It has one specific new trick, which is to make five stitches out of one in a row, then knit them together in the next row. To me, the pattern looks like twigs with little leaves on both sides, or like wheat ears, though you are free to imagine whatever you like. The lacy waves edging rows will give you a very beautiful and cozy shawl that’s perfect for these unusually chilly spring days. Hope you have an enjoyable time making it!
