Powder Stripes Shawl

Hello guys! I’m glad to be back and working after I inevitably got infected with Omicron a couple of weeks ago and had my fair share of all its symptoms. I feel much better now and hope to regain my full strength soon! And that’s why, due to my health state, this shawl took a relatively long time to finish, though it’s here at last! I think my saving grace was that it was an easy knit, the yarn colors are also very easy on the (tired) eyes and didn’t give me a hard time during my illness. As it is a quick work, it could be a great gift for the coming spring weeks with all its lovely occasions. The pattern is simple and consists of 20 rows that are worked using each yarn color alternately. I hope you enjoy making this beautiful shawl, and I wish you all a very healthy spring!

Ginger Basket Shawlette

Hello everyone! It's been a long time since I've designed a project using bulky yarn, so I was glad I got to do a shawlette with it this time around. While travelling to visit my sisters, I went to a nearby crafts store, and I found my eyes wondering towards the bulky and chunky yarn section there. Despite my daughter’s objection to my “typical choice of colors”, I ended up buying this classic brownish yarn that reminded me of gingerbread, with absolutely no idea what to make with it (as usual). After rattling my brain for an idea, and few trials later, I settled on this simple knit and purl pattern, which I am so fond of these days. Combining this weaving base pattern with an asymmetrical shape, gave this shawlette its unique look. In addition, I used the clear edging method for both the side and the binding off row, to achieve this specific sharp appearance. So, there you have it, a warm, cozy, and elegant shawlette with an added bonus of being a very quick project to finish. I hope you have a lovely time knitting it and wearing it!

Crimson Krill Shawl

Hello everyone! This shawl is my latest addition in what I’m now calling ‘2021 Summer Shawl Collection’! As I recall all the shawls I made in the last season, I’ve recognized some common features that made this collection unique from the ones I made before: the type of yarn I used (medium and light worsted), mono colors, and a general pattern repetition. I now realize that sticking to these elements when designing helped me produce easy, yet beautiful pieces. Now back to this shawl. At first, I had many concerns about using this shade of red, because it kind of obscured most of the patterns I tried in my trial phase. I finally settled on this simple pattern that made me really satisfied with how the shawl turned out. I’m very proud of how it looks and how the color makes it both eye catching while it inspires a feeling of warmth in you. I hope you have a lovely time knitting it as I did. Stay safe and healthy!
