Mist Lace Beanie

Hi knitters! I’m happy to be back with another cozy knitting project. This time, I’ve designed a delicate lace hat that combines a simple ribbed brim with a pretty textured lace pattern. The soft, yarn gives it a gentle, wintery feel, while the relaxed shape makes it both comfortable and easy to wear. This beanie is a lovely project for anyone who enjoys knitting lace but wants something practical and wearable at the end. The easy pattern creates a beautiful texture without making the design feel too complicated, making it a relaxing project to work on during the colder months. Materials:

• Suggested yarn: Alize Burcum Klasik, 100% acrylic, 3.5 oz (100 g), 230 yards (210 m), 1 skein for all sizes.
• Circular knitting needles, 16" (40 cm) long, size US 7 (4.5 mm) and US 9 (5.5 mm). 
• Double pointed needles (DPNs) set, size US 9 (5.5 mm).
• Tapestry needle.
• Ring stitch marker.

Sizes and measurements: 

• Size S (child size): head circumference = 18-19" (45-48 cm), height = 7.5" (19 cm). 
• Size M: head circumference = 20-21" (50.8-53.3 cm), height = 8" (20.5 cm).
• Size L: head circumference = 22-23" (56-58.5 cm), height = 8" (20.5 cm).

Yardage: 

• Size S (child size): 113- 115 yards (103- 105 m), approx.
• Size M: 120-122 yards (110-112 m), approx.
• Size L: 128-130 yards (117-120 m), approx.

Gauge: 17 stitches and 22 rounds = 4" x 4" (10 cm x 10 cm) in stockinette stitch and US 9 (5.5 mm) knitting needles.

Knitting Terms:

• st: stitch.
• sts: stitches.
• k: knit.
• p: purl.
• yo: yarn over.
• k2tog: knit two stitches together.
• ssk: slip, slip, then knit the two slipped stitches together through back loops.
• p2tog: purl two stitches together.

Instructions:

With size US 7 (4.5 mm) circular knitting needles, cast on 80 (88, 96). Join in the round. Don't know how to join in the round? here is a short tutorial on how to do it (from 0:26 - 1:15 min):

Put a ring stitch marker at the beginning of rounds, then work as follows:

Rib round: k 1, p 1, repeat to end.

Repeat the rib round seven more times. Change to size US 9 (5.5 mm) circular knitting needles while knitting the first round.

General pattern: 

Round 1: k 2, k2tog, p 2, yo, k 2, repeat to end.

Round 2 and each even number round: k to end.

Round 3: k 1, k2tog, p 2, yo, k 3, repeat to end.

Round 5: k 1, ssk, p 4, yo, k 1, repeat to end.

Before working round 7, move the stm one st forward. Knit this st.

Round 7: k 1, ssk, p 3, k 1, yo, k 1, repeat to end.

Move the stm back one st. 

For size S, repeat the general pattern two more times, then work 1-4 rows of the general pattern once.

For sizes M and L, repeat the general pattern three more times.

Decreasing rounds:

Round 1: p 6, p2tog, repeat to end. [70 (77, 84) sts]

Rounds 2, 4: k to end.

Round 3: p to end.

Round 5: p 5, p2tog, repeat to end. [60 (66, 72) sts]

Rounds 6, 8: k to end.

Round 7: p to end.

Round 9: p 4, p2tog, repeat to end.  [50 (55, 60) sts]

Change to double pointed needles when needed.

Round 10: k to end.

Round 11: p 3, p2tog, repeat to end.  [40 (44, 48) sts]

Round 12: k to end.

Round 13: p 2, p2tog, repeat to end.  [30 (33, 36) sts]

Round 14: k to end.

Round 15: p 1, p2tog, repeat to end. [20 (22, 24) sts]

Round 16: k to end.

Round 17: p2tog, repeat to end.  [10 (11, 12) sts]

Cut yarn, leaving a 6" (15 cm) long yarn tail. Thread the tail through all stitches, pull tight to close, and secure. Weave in loose ends.
