Bold Stripes Top

Hello everyone! Since I've made the Bold Stripes Skirt, my mind was set on making a matching top. I was actually two thirds of the way done with it when I ran out of yarn. What delayed me from finishing it that was that I purchased the yarn while I was traveling, and my local store did not have this particle kind. So as soon as I could get my hands on more of that yarn, I was done. You see, the cool thing about working with bulky yarn (compared to lesser yarn weights) is that it makes knitting so much easier; simple pattern looks nice with it, and you finish the piece you’re working on in no time. This piece is a crop top of sorts, non the less, if you prefer, you can make it longer and get a full-length sweater. The available sizes range from extra small to 4XL, but in case you want to knit a larger size, let me know in a comment. Enjoy making this two-piece set and have nice knitting days.

  1. How much extra yardage would you recommend to make it as long as a regular length sweater in the XL/2XL size? Where in the pattern would you recommend to "add" these extra rows?

  2. Hello there,
To make this top a full length sweater in size XL/2XL, I would say you need to add about 9"- 10" (23- 25 cm) by repeating the "Basic round" of the "Body" forty-two times instead of ten (this was calculated according to the gauge). So, you will need an extra 220- 230 yards (200- 210 m) of yarn.

  3. I love these 2 patterns, but unfortunately I can not get the hand of circular knitting. Is there a 2 needle pattern available please?

    1. Hi Iceni,
This top is worked in one piece, so it is easier to use circular needles in this case. Unfortunately, the pattern is only workable using circular needles, otherwise the whole design must be changed, where you'll have to make a front and back (the sleeves too will have to be changed) and sew everything together.

  5. I love this sweater!! Can you help me knit the sweater with a bust size of 48"? Usually, I would make the sweater have 4" of ease. I would also like to make it longer. Usually, I make my sweaters around 17" from the underarm. I have a long measurement there. Thanks Lindarobbins@missouristate.edu
