Melody Scarf

PLEASE NOTE: the written instructions have been updated and a chart has been added on December 31st, 2018.

Hello everyone! the weather has been miserable these past few days where I live. It has been snowing and raining non stop. To cheer myself up, I made a summery scarf. It only took two days to finish.

  4. It's a beautiful scarf. I'm just a bit confused with something. On Row 2, it says skip 4 chains twice. Does that mean skip 8 or just 4? Thanks for clearing it up. Also, what does it mean when you say "picot?" Is that a stitch we should know. If so, where can I find how to do that? Thanks a bunch. :)

    1. Thank you,
Yes you should skip 8 chains in total, the first 4 chains are the ones that will count as a ds and ch 2 made in the first row. Sorry it is a little bit confusing.

  5. Very pretty! I just started this scarf but I am confused already (my fault I'm sure). At the beginning of Row 3 you say to (tc, ch 1, tc) in ch 2 space. I can't figure out what ch2 space you are referring to. Help please?

  6. This crochet pattern is very pretty. However, the instructions make no sense. Is there anyone out in Crochet Land that has made this scarf, will you make a comprehensive YouTube video for this pretty scarf, please? Pretty please?

  7. I am using a 100g cotton bamboo. I am not sure if I have my tension right. Should the stitches be tight or a little loose?

    1. Thank you for your comment and I'm glad you are making the melody scarf.
It doesn't matter how tight or loose your crocheting is as long as you are using a DK and finer yarn that needs 3.5 mm or less number hook. The design needs delicate yarn and I think the bamboo is very good choice. My daughter and I worked two versions of this scarf, hers is very tight and mine is somehow loose and they both look nice.

    2. Can a similar pattern be knitted instead?

    3. Good day seabee, I don't think this is possible. Knitting and crochet have different methods and appearance.

    1. Thank you for choosing the Ombre Poncho to knit. kyokrb is a special type of yarn over that (k, yo, k) comes out of it.
Please, watch this video to learn how to make it, and believe me you will find it really easy once you try it:
