Weaved Flowers Shrug

Hello everyone! It's time to make a simple and fun shrug as requested by my daughter. This is the first time I share a shrug design, so I wanted to make something easy to knit. I went for the weaved pattern; a straightforward pattern that repeats every 12 rows. You can make the shrug in any size you like by merely adding or subtracting a certain number of stitches and rows to or from the basic pattern (all of this and more are included in a detailed note at the top of the instructions). So, pick up your favorite yarn and start knitting, and you’ll get yourself one eye-catching shrug in no time. Enjoy!

Assembly:

Lay the shrug out flat, then fold it in half lengthwise. Place markers on each side 4" (10 cm) below the fold for armholes. Seam sides from the marker down to the lower edge.

Stars on the Beach Shawlette

Hi everyone! I got my hands on a light, soft and multi-colored baby yarn, which inspired me to make this delicate shawlette. The design I've chosen is a four-row pattern accentuated by the color changing yarn. There is a small twist to knitting it, but fear not, because the general pattern is explained clearly in my video tutorial. You can customize the size of this shawlette however you like by adjusting the number of general pattern repeats. To keep the same sequence of colors throughout the whole shawlette, you have to match the color when you join a new yarn donut. I hope you enjoy making this piece and I appreciate any thoughts or comments you leave.

Weaved Messy Bun Hat

Hello to you all! This is my first attempt at designing a messy bun hat. I'm using the same weave pattern that I've used previously in my Ginger Basket Shawl. While I kept the making process easy, I still wanted to give this hat an exceptional style, so I paired an easy pattern with a vibrant colored yarn with small flowers sprinkled all over it. I also added a ribbon to the top opening so it can be adjusted to the head size and hair. So grab a skein of your favorite stashed yarn and a ribbon and make this messy bun hat for you or your little ones in just a few hours. I'm preparing another easy to knit project using the same type of yarn, so keep an eye out for it. Have a lovely knitting day!

  • Circular knitting needles, 16" (40 cm) long, size US 8 (5 mm). For the child size you can use a set of double pointed needles of the same size instead.
  • Ribbon, 1" (2.5 cm) wide, 40” (100 cm) long for the child size, 47" (120 cm) long for the adult size.
  • Tapestry needle.

  • Adult size: head circumference = 21"- 22" (53- 56 cm), height = 8" (20 cm).

Yardage:

  • Child size107- 110 yards (97- 100 m), approx.
  • Adult size: 117- 120 yards (107- 110 m), approx.
Gauge: 18 sts and 25 rounds = 4" x 4" (10 cm x 10 cm) in stockinet stitch.

  • st: stitch.
  • sts: stitches.
  • k: knit.
  • p: purl.
  • yo: yarn over.
  • k2tog: knit two stitches together.
  • ssk: slip, slip, then knit the two slipped sts together through back loops.

Instructions:

Cast on 72 (88) sts. Join in the round. Don't know how to join in the round? here is a short tutorial on how to do it (from 0:26 - 1:15 min):

Work as follows:

Note: Put a ring stitch marker at the beginning of round 2.

General pattern:

Rounds 1- 4: k 2, p 5, k 1, repeat to end.

Round 5: k 2, yo, ssk, k 1, k2tog, yo, k 1, repeat to end.

Rounds 6- 10: p 3, k 3, p 2, repeat to end.

Round 11: k 1,k2tog, yo, k 3, yo, ssk, repeat to end.

Round 12: repeat round 1.

Repeat the general pattern three (four) times, then repeat rounds 1- 10 for the child size and rounds 1- 4 for the adult size.

Bind off all stitches and weave in loose ends. Pass the ribbon through the (yo) eyelets of upper opening of the hat. Gather the two ends of the ribbon to tighten the opening, leaving an adequate space for your hair bun, then make a neat bow. Trim the ribbon ends to stop them from fraying.
