Wrap Me in Sunshine Shawl

Hello friends! I got to say I was really excited to get my hands on some cotton based yarn this summer. It's been one heat wave after another for the last few weeks, so I was glad when I finally got to work on my Scheepjes whirl that I bought a couple of months ago. It has a beautiful color gradient, so it deserved to be made into an elegant and sophisticated piece. I've enjoyed every minute working on this shawl and the pattern repetitions in different colors came out really nice. It would sure be suitable for a fancy outing on a chilly night. I hope you knit with patience. I'm sure once you start, you will get into a rhythm, and the written pattern will lead you all the way to the finish line.
Stay safe and healthy, and good luck!

  1. Hi, I want to try this, it's beautiful.
Do you start with the black (outside of the yarn cake) or pull from the middle (center yellow)?

  2. Hi so I just need to follow ur written instructions and then follow end rows?
How long should be the cord for circular needles? If I decide to use flat needles is it ok?

    1. Hi Gayatri, yes you should follow the instructions step by step to the last rows which are written and illustrated in the graphs. I've mentioned the length of the circular needles in the material section. I don't recommend straight needles because the rows especially in the last part will be very long with many stitches.

    2. Thank you for your kind reply. I also wanted to know if I decide to go shorter on length, how should I decide where to stop n begin last set of rows. This is just fr my information, most probably I will do complete as per pattern.

    3. Hi Gayarti
If you want a shorter shawl, just knit less general pattern's repetitions.

    1. Hi
You can use 3.5 mm or 4 mm. The decision depends on your knitting hands; loose or tight.

  5. Hi, I'm newer to knitting and I'm not sure what this means and how to do it. Could you explain it to me? ss next 3 sts to sth in front

    1. Hi
(ss next 3 sts to sth in front) means slip next three stitches to the stitch holder and keep the stitch holder in front of work while knitting the other 3 that comes after. Then return the three stitches from the stitch holder back to needle and knit them.

    2. Using C6F is a easter way of explaining it.
Cable 6 front: sl (slip) 3 sts onto CB (cable needle) and place to the front of your work, K3 from LH (left hand) needle then Knit 3st from CB
reverse the twist put the stitches to the back of your work rather than the front - C6B= cable 6 back

And starting with row 64 again, on row95 I have 54 stitches on my needle but if I follow row 64 I have 54 stitches which finishes right up, but can't do last 4 stitches, it could be me as I'm a bit dizzy🙃 sometimes but ive even pulled it back a few rows to make sure. Please help😫 Rose Robinson

  10. Hi
Don't panic please and get rest. when you finished row 95, you had 54 sts. And when you start row 64 again it also needs 54 sts+ yo. So check your work again when you feel well.
    Have a nice knitting day.

  11. Your Last Rows chart doesn't seem to match the written pattern (row 1). And you show row 13 on the chart, but not in the written. Is it knit a row or just BO after row 12?
