Hello friends! Knitting a shawl using one skein of yarn is always an adventure I am willing to undertake, and if you are a constant visitor to my blog you might've noticed that. This time however, the challenge has been doubled for me. Most of my designs have been knitted top-down or vice versa, but this time, I worked from side to side. Designing a shawl by starting from the middle of one side to the tip of the other was a bit hard, and I had to start over more than three times to reach my goal of using most, if not all, of the skein on this design. I still finished with a few yards left, but I am very satisfied with what I made.
I assure you that making this shawlette is very straight forward, and the result, as you see, is a beautiful wrap that can be worn on a chilly night. So grab a skein of your favorite ombre yarn and try it out!

I am confused over : Instructions--Odd # rows...: Do I begin this immediately after the knit one row set-up? It would be helpful if you could write out the exact stitches for the rows 1-8 after the set up and the first 4 rows of the general pattern. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteHi
DeleteWhat I understood from your comment is you are confused over the total number of stitches in first 8 rows and the general rows? Am I right?.
You cast on 97 sts and this is the total the number of stitches through out the shawl until you reach the (decreasing rows).
And if you ask about the number of stitches before and after the sm, it starts with one stitch at your right needle in row 1, and increases gradually as you work until you get equal numbers on both sides of sm (center stitch) before starting the decreasing rows.
I hope this is helpful
Have a nice and healthy day

For odd # rows, when you reach the sm, yo before slipping the sm from the left to the right needle. Do I begin that with row #1 after set up row? which would then read...
DeleteRow 1: (k1, yo, sm, yo) twice, knit to last 2 sts, k2tog, turn.
In General Pattern:
Row 3 would then read: p up to sm (yo before sm) sm, yo, k1, yo, k to last 2 sts, k2tog, turn.
Am I interpreting your instructions correctly?
Hi Please go through the instructions again, for I've made some changes that (I think) makes work easier.
DeleteWish you happy knitting day
