- Yarn: any cotton yarn you prefer (weight: #3/ light/ DK), one skein in each of the following colors: green, red and white. Suggested yarn: D.M.C Happy Cotton, 0.7 oz (20 g), 47 yards (43 m).
- Crochet hook, size E (3.5 mm).
- Fifteen round beads, 1/4 inch (5 mm) in diameter, and one star bead for the tree. The beads I had were black, so I painted them with gold nail polish.
- One mini white pompom: I tried making one with cotton yarn, but it turned out very stiff and not fluffy. So I remade it using a 75% acrylic, 25% wool yarn following this easy video tutorial. Use a 6" (15 cm) long piece of yarn to tie the pompom but do not cut the excess.
- Tapestry needle.
Measurements of the square: 6" x 6" (15 cm x 15 cm) approx.
Gauge: 22 sts and 12 round = 4"x 4" (10 cm x 10 cm) in double crochet.
Yardage: 70- 72 yards (64- 66 m).
- ch: chain.
- st: stitch.
- sl st: slip stitch.
- yo: yarn over.
- sc: single crochet.
- dc: double crochet.
Note: leave a 3" (8 cm) yarn tail at the beginning of the hat and tree triangles.
