Yarn: ALIZE HAPPY BABY SOFT, 100 g. – 3.53 oz. 330 m. - 361 yds.

Color B: 556 pinkish orange, 1 skein

Neckline shaping:

With color B dec. 11 (13, 15) sts in the middle and work each side separately.

Left side neckline, dec. at the beginning of every alternate row, 3, 3, 2, 1 ((4, 3, 2, 1) (4, 3, 2, 1)). Work in socks pattern so that you have 16 (18, 20) rows from (color fading pattern).

Work right side neckline conversely.

Now you have 26 (28, 30) sts in each Shoulder side.

Left band shoulder opening:

Change to color A, work two rows in rib pattern, then make two button holes in the next row as follow:

1^st row: 8 sts in rib pattern, dec. 2 sts, 10 sts rib pattern, dec. 2 sts, 4 (6, 6) sts rib pattern

2^nd : 4 (6, 8) sts in rib pattern, inc. 2 sts, 10 sts in rib pattern, inc. 2 sts, 8 sts in rib pattern

Make 2 more rows in rib pattern, cast off all.

Note: you may need extra 3.5 mm needle to cast on the other band of left side, or just use the circular one, it is only few rows before joining the two sides of back.

With color A, cast on 26 (28, 30) sts, cast on work six rows in rib pattern, change to color B and start back piece, work as follows:

Purl all sts, inc. 9 (10, 10) sts. (Leave this side for now)  

Right band shoulder:

Change to color A, work 6 rows in rib pattern.

Change to color B. Work as follow:

Sleeve (make 2)

With color A, cast on 42 (48, 52) sts, work six rows in rib pattern.

Change to color B, work one row purl (optional), and then work eyelid pattern

1^st row: slip first st, (yo, K2tog) repeat between brackets to the last st, K.

2^nd row: slip first st, P to the end.

Repeat the two rows more times (optional: one more to size 2 years)

(Change to color A, work four rows in socks, inc. one st at each end of first row, change to color B, work six rows in socks pattern). Repeat 7 (8, 9) times more.

Change to color A, work four rows, inc. one st at each end of first row. 58 (66, 72)

Cast off all sts.

 Finishing:

Neckband:

Starting From back necklines on to front, with 3.5 mm needle, and color A yarn, Pick up 93 (95, 97) sts evenly.

Work as follow:

1^st row: (wrong side) K to end of row

2^nd row: rib pattern starting with P st.

3^rd row: rib pattern starting with P st.

4^th row: rib pattern starting with K st to last 5 sts, dec. two sts (for the button hole), continue in rib pattern to end.

5^th row: rib pattern starting with P, inc 2 sts, continue in rib pattern to end.

6^th row: rib pattern starting with K st.

Cast of all sts.

Put left front shoulder band over back left shoulder band. Mark the middle st of the upper end of sleeves.

Sew left sleeve in place reaching 20 rows (26 rows, 32 rows) under fading color pattern on back and front. Sew right sleeve the same way.

Sew sleeve seems, side seams of front and back together.

Lower band of sweater:

 Using circular needle, and color B yarn, starting from one side seam, pick up 162 (178, 190) from lower edge of sweater, work Eyelid pattern in rounds as follow:

1^st row: (yo, k2tog), repeat to end of round. (Mark beginning of rounds)

2^nd row: k to end.

Repeat these two rows two times more, change to color B, purl one round (optional), work 6 rows in rib pattern, cast of all sts, weave in ends, sew buttons in place on back left shoulder band. Enjoy the sweater look on your child.

Mandala Rays Coaster

Hello everyone! I love Mandalas. There is something very soothing about making them. I make tons each year, but I have never made my own design. I thought I’d give a try the other day, and this is what I came up with. Hope you like it.  

Materials

Yarn: Alize “diva silk effect” yarn, 100% Microfiber Acrylic (100 g), one skein of:

Rose 354 (A)

Cream 01 (B)

Light cream 62  (C)

gray 355 (D)

Hook size 3 m.

Tapestry needle.

The coaster is about 10 1/8” (26 cm) diameter

Intermediate level

Making the Mandala

With yarn B, make a magic ring.

Round 1: ch 4 (counts as dtr st), 35 dtr, sl st to 4^th ch of first ch 4. (36 tr)

Round 2: (ch 3 and dtr2tog) in first 3 st, ch 5 * dtr3tog, ch 5, repeat from * to end of round, sl st to first 3dtr cluster, cut yarn.

With yarn A, join in any ch 5 space.

Round 3: ch 1 *(sc 1, hdc, dc, tr, ch 1, tr, dc, hdc, sc 1) in ch 5 space. repeat from *in each ch5 space.  sl st to first sc, cut yarn.

With yarn D, join in any ch 1 space.

Round 4: ch 1, sc in ch 1 space, ch 7, *sc in next ch 1 space, ch 7, repeat from * to end, sl st to first sc.

Round 5: sl st to ch7 space, ch 3, dc 8 in the same ch 7 space, * dc 9 in next ch 7 space, repeat from * to end, sl st to 3^rd  ch of first ch 3, cut yarn.

With yarn C, join in 3^rd  dc of any 9 dc cluster.

Round 6: (ch 3 dtr4tog), ch 4, tr in the 7^th dc of the 9 dc cluster, tr in 3^rd  dc of next 9 dc cluster, ch 4, * dtr5tog in the middle five dc of previous round, ch 4, tr in the 7^th dc of the 9 dc cluster, tr in 3^rd  dc of next 9 dc cluster, repeat from * to end, sl st first (ch 3 dtr4tog) cluster, cut yarn.

With yarn A, join in any ch 4 space to left of dtr5tog cluster.

Round 7: ch 1 *(sc, hdc, dc, tr, 2 dtr) in ch 4 space, (2 dtr, tr, dc, hdc, sc) in next ch 4 space, repeat from* to end, sl st to first ch 1, cut yarn.

With yarn D, join in between 2 scs over dtr5tog of round 6.

Round 8: ch 5 (count as dc and ch 2 space) and dc in the same st, ch 2, sc in tr of previous round, ch 2, sc in space after 2 dtr, ch 2, sc in tr of previous round, ch 2, *(dc, ch 2 dc) between next 2 scs, ch 2, sc in tr of previous round, ch 2, sc in space after 2 dtr, ch 2, sc in tr of previous round, ch 2,  repeat from * to end, sl st to 3^rd ch of first ch 5, cut yarn.

With yarn C, join in any ch 2 space, right of (dc, ch 2, dc) cluster.

Round 9: ch 1, *sc in the ch 2 space, *9 dtr in ch 2 of (dc, ch 2, dc) cluster, sc in next ch 2 space, ch 7, sc in the next ch 2 space, repeat from * to end, sl st to first sc after last ch 7, cut yarn.

With yarn A, join in 5^th dtr of 9 dtr cluster.

Weave in loose yarn and block the mandala.

Striped Raspberry Knitted Cushion Cover

I try to stay away from knitting in the summer, due to the extreme hot weather where I live (over 45 C). But now that it is officially autumn, I started knitting again, and came up with this very simple and vintage looking cushion cover.  

Materials

• Yarn: Alize/ Superlana, Klasik. Wool 25% acrylic 75%, 3.5 oz. / 100 gram, 306 yd. / 280 mt.

Colors numbers: first cushion: 2 skeins of each: dark cream 01, maroon 57. Second cushion: 2 skeins of each: white 55, violet 111.

• Knitting needles: 4 mm, US size 6.
• 3 buttons, 1”/ 2.5 cm diameter, dark cream color for first cushion. violet color for second cushion.
• Tapestry needle.

Cushion measurements:

Length: 15”/ 40 cm

Width: 15”/ 40 cm

Level: intermediate

Knitting Terms:

K 1: knit 1 stitch.
P 1: purl one stitch

P3Tog: purl three stitches together.

Raspberry Stitch Pattern

Number of stitches: Multiple of 4.
Row 1: *(k 1, p 1, k 1) into 1 st, P3Tog, repeat from * to end.

Row 2: purl All Stitches.
Row 3: *P3Tog, (k 1, p 1, k 1) into 1 st, repeat from * to end. 
Row 4: purl All stitches.

Simple Ribs Pattern:

Row: k 1, p 1, to end.

Making first cover (cream and maroon)

With dark cream yarn, Cast on 84 st, work 18 rows simple ribs pattern as under band. 

Raspberry Pattern Stripes:

1. With dark cream yarn, work 20 rows. (5 times pattern repeat).
2. With maroon yarn, work 20 rows (5 times pattern repeat).

Repeat 1 and 2 three more times.

With marroon yarn make the second band as follows:

Work 8 rows simple ribs pattern, then work the next 2 rows to make button holes:

Row 1:10 sts in simple ribs pattern, cast off 3 sts, 27 sts in simple ribs pattern, cast off 3 sts, 27 sts in simple ribs pattern, cast off 3 sts, 11 sts in simple ribs pattern.

Row 2:11 st in simple ribs pattern, cast on 3 sts, 27 st in simple ribs pattern, cast on 3 sts, 27 st in simple ribs pattern, cast on 3 sts, 10 st in ribs pattern.

Work 6 more rows in simple ribs pattern, cast off all sts.

Finishing the cushion cover

Weave in loose ends, fold the rectangle piece as shown in drawing, sew both sides, and sew buttons in place.

Work the second cushion cover following the instructions starting with the violet color, and changing to white.

Striped Crochet Cushion Cover

Hello friends, I love small projects, especially when they come to life out of yarn scrapes. In this post I will show you how to make one just like mine. 

Materials

• Yarn: Nako/ Super Inci Hit. Wool 25% premium acrylic 75%, 3.5 oz./100 gram, 197 yd./ 180 mt.
• Colors numbers: 2 skeins of navy blue 3088, one skein of each: white 208, honey 256, gray 193, maroon 999, and dark jeans blue 2273.
• Hook: 5 mm, US size H.
• Six buttons, 0.75”/ 2 cm diameter, colors matching yarn, mine were two honey white, two gray and two maroon.
• Tapestry needle.

Cushion measurements:

Length: 19.5”/ 50 cm

Width: 16.5”/ 42 cm

Making button bands

Bind on dark blue navy yarn to the beginning of one of the short sides of the front (width), ch 2, dc 67, and picking up the stitches tidily, through the side.   

Crochet two more rows, cut yarn.

Back:

Using navy blue.

1^st row: Ch 70, dc in the third ch, dc in each ch to end of row, turn. (68 st)

2^nd- 44^th row: Ch 2 (count as dc), dc in each dc to end of row, turn.

Making buttonholes: 

45^th row: ch 2, dc 10, *skip 1 st, ch 1, dc 8, repeat from * 4 more times, skip 1 st, ch 1, dc 11, turn.

46^th row: ch 2, dc 10, *dc in ch 1 space, dc 8, repeat 4 more times, dc in ch 1 space, dc 11, cut yarn.

Finishing the cushion

weave in loose ends

Flip the button band in front to inside and sew the short ends on sides. Sew the three sides of the back and front of cushion together from inside, sew buttons on button band.
