Autumnal Air Scarf

After a very long and hot summer, It's officially Autumn. I miss wearing scarves and sweaters. The cold weather got me in the mood of knitting, and I came up with this quick and easy knitted scarf. 

Measurements:

Length: 74 inch / 188 cm.

Width: 9.5 inch / 24 cm

Materials:

Yarn: Nako Baby (luks minnos) 100 g / 3.53 Oz, 336 mt / 367 yds, 50% polyamide, 50% acrylic.

Colors: light powder 1479 (1 skein), light beige 6690 (1 skein).

Needles: 4 mm/ 6 US.

Small cable needle.

Gauge:

27 sts in 33 rows 10X10 cm 4X4 inch.

Knitting terms used in patterns

K: knit

P: purl

Yo: yarn over

S: slip stitch

P: pass stitch

K2tog: knit 2 stitches together

K2togtbl: knit 2 stitches together through back loops

S2k1p2: slip the first two stitches together as if you were going to knit them together, knit the next stitch, them pass the two slipped stitches over the stitch just knit.

Patterns used in the scarf:

Seersucker pattern:

Number of rows: 8

Number of stitches: multiple of 4 plus 1

Row 1: k 1, p1, repeat to last stitch, k 1.

Row 2: and every back row, work stitches matching the previous row.

Row 3: p 1, k 3, repeat to last stitch, p 1.

Row 5: k 1, p 1, repeat to last stitch, k 1.

Row 7: k 2, p 1, k 1, repeat to last 3 stitches, p 1, k 2.

Lace pattern

Number of rows: 8

Number of stitches: multiple of 6 plus 1.

Row 1: k 1, yo, k2togtbl, k 1, k2tog, yo, repeat to last stitch, k 1.

Row 2: and every back row, p all stitches.

Row 3: k 1, yo, k 1, S2k1p2, k 1, yo, repeat to last stitch, k 1.

Row 5: k 1, k2tog, yo, k 1, yo, k2togtbl, repeat to last stitch, k 1.

Row 7: k2tog, *k 1, yo, k 1, yo, k 1, S2k1p2, repeat from * to last 5 stitches: k 1, yo, k 1, yo, k 1, k2togtbl.

Simple cable braid pattern:

Number of rows: 4

Number of stitches: 4

At the right side of scarf:

Row 1: p 1, k 2, p 1.

Row 2: k 1, p 2, k 1.

Row 3: p 1, place stitch to cable needle behind work, k 1, place the stitch back to left needle and k 1, p 1.

Row 4: k 1, p 2, k 1.

Repeat rows 3-4 as required.

At left side of scarf:

Row 1: p 1, k 2, p 1.

Row 2: k 1, p 2, k 1.

Row 3: p 1, place stitch to cable needle in front of work, k 1, place the stitch back to left needle and k 1, p 1.

Row 4: k 1, p 2, k 1.

Repeat rows 3-4 as required.

Making the scarf

With light powder color yarn, cast on 69 stitches.

Note: along the scarf, always work the first 4 stitches and the last 4 stitches with braid pattern, no matter what the middle alternate pattern is (seersucker or lace).

First light powder yarn part:

Work 4 stitches cable braid pattern, 61 stitches seersucker pattern, 4 stitches cable braid pattern.

Repeat the seersucker pattern 7 times (56 rows), cut light powder color yarn.

Light beige yarn square:

Change to light beige color yarn, and repeat seersucker pattern 2.5 times (20 rows).

Change to lace pattern, repeat 7 times (56 rows), and cut yarn.

Light powder color yarn square:

Change to light beige color yarn, and repeat lace pattern 2.5 times (20 rows).

Change to seersucker pattern, repeat 7 times (56 rows), and cut yarn.

Repeat the color sequence squares 2 more times. Then work Light beige color yarn square one last time.

With the same yarn, work seersucker pattern 11 rows, and cast off, cut yarn.

Weave in loose yarn and block.
